This will be our 12th walk for Anna, and it marks more than 12.5 years of her life with Type 1 Diabetes.
While we are extremely proud of all that Anna has accomplished and all that she is, we pray daily for a CURE that will allow her to live a normal life, free of blood sugar checks, insulin and pumps, carbohydrate counting, and the constant management that this disease requires.
Since we posted the video below, two more walks have taken place (check out the pictures at the bottom of the page). Anna graduated from high school and is a sophomore at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. She is a pre-nursing student and hopes to follow in the footsteps of the special diabetes nurse educators who have meant so much to her.
Camp experiences continue, only now Anna is a counselor rather than a camper. She loves the opportunity to help others who, like her, conduct a daily balancing act with insulin, carbs, and activity.
We welcome any and all who would like to join us this October 15th at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta for the 2011 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.
You can REGISTER for the walk and become part of our team, Anna's Allies, using the link in the sidebar. You can also use this link to DONATE to JDRF in the name of our team.
If you'd like to order a Walk Button, please let Anna know (or contact us via e-mail).
Together...
we can make a difference for Anna and the thousands of others who live with Type 1.
Love,
Lynn
